FROM THE EDITOR’S DESK :: Merry Christmas, Baby… with a Fat Tire

by Harvey Gold on December 24, 2013

A LONG time ago, I wrote a piece from the road, which included a map of New Belgium Brewery’s distribution. I was disturbed to learn they strectched all the way from the Pacific to the Atlantic to the Gulf of Mexico, with just one notable hole, a chunk of the U.S. that simply excluded every place (Ohio and NY, to be specific) I’ve ever lived. This meant those of us in Nohio had to have friends coming in from… almost anywhere else… bring us that tasty Fat Tire Amber Ale and the totally drinkable Ranger IPA. We felt pretty abandoned.
Sure we have a lot of spectacular regional beers here, and there’s great distro for a lot of others, but that only served to underline the snub.

Merry Christmas, Baby!

Merry Christmas, Baby!

Recently, New Belgium announced more breweries and thus more coverage, and we awaited anxiously.

Today, I was doing my last shopping for our Christmas Eve Family Fest, and as I wandered by the beer and wine section in a not-to-be-named-airplane-hangar-sized- shopping-club, well… we know what this writer is washing down the Christmas Eve foul with.

Thanks Santa Belgium, and again…

Merry Christmas, Baby!!!
