THE EDITOR’S DESK :: International Beer Day, International IPA Long Weekend in Review

by Harvey Gold on August 9, 2011

…or 19 different beers, 2 single malts and a couple shots of …

Looking at the numbers,  all our readers, all the impressions on our facebook page and this website,  we expected our peeps to come out more in force for our requested reports on what everyone drank for International Beer Day and our imaginary (but awesome) International IPA Long Weekend.

Here’s the final tally as of Monday morning. Either our readership is a bit reticent, passed out early, or just too busy doing the deed to write. Starting On August 4th at 9PM EST, the original start of International IPA Day… or so we were informed:

Harvey Gold – Editor @ Your Beer Network:

Breckenridge 471 Small Batch IPA

Thirsty Dog Hoppus Maximus

Thirsty Dog Old Leghumper (An American Porter I popped when I learned about the “beer” vs. “IPA” nature of this international vagary we were celebrating)

Bowmore Mariner, and Laphroaig 10 Double Cask Strength Single Malt Islay Scotches

Great Lakes Brewing Company Lake Erie Monster

Rogue Dead Guy Ale

Sierra Nevada IPA

Dave Daugherty: “On and Off the Beaten Path”

Pacific Beach Ale House’s Promiscuous IPA  (San Diego)

Four Peaks Brewing Company Raj IPA (Tempe Arizona)

These were where the brews came from AND the locations where Dave drank them.

Peerless Reader Anna R. Jensen:

Avery Maharaja

Over 10% ABV, a big, delicious 22 still sits in our YBN fridge.

 * KD Ruben:

Fort Collins Brewery’s Imperial India Wheat Ale

* K.D. is a ringer. She works for Fort Collins Brewery, but as we have proven to be fans of their brews, this one likely to be no exception we let this insidious post stand.

Chris Seivard:

Widmer Brothers Pitch Black IPA

Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA

Chris is the man who sort of wrecked and at the same time enriched my life, turning me on to my first single malt scotch when in Aberdeen finishing up a project.

Dr. Carol Westbrook, from our YBN Beer Clinic:

Bell’s Brewery Two Hearted Ale

Left Hand Brewing Sawtooth Ale

Three Floyds Alpha King Pale Ale

New Belgium Fat Tire Amber Ale

Avery Brewing Back In Black IPA

Homebrew, Homage IPA

Dave Brisker
an unusually wimped out YBN on facebook monster:

Sierra Nevada IPA w. a couple shots of Jameson Irish Whiskey
